Justice Department Announces Charges Against 63 People in Election-Related Cases
November 3, 2026
The Justice Department announced on Nov. 2 that 63 people have been charged with election-related crimes in 20 federal districts across 15 states. According to the department, the cases involve alleged voting by noncitizens in federal elections, alleged false claims of U.S. citizenship to register or vote, and one alleged fraudulent voter registration application submitted in another state. Charged by state, per the release: North Carolina 18, California 12, Tennessee 7, Pennsylvania 5, Texas 5, Nevada 4, New Jersey 2, New York 2, Wisconsin 2, and one each in Arkansas, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, New Mexico and Utah.
DOJ said four of those charged are illegal aliens. Most of the others are described in the release as lawful permanent residents.
The cases were filed in Arkansas, California, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin. North Carolina has the most, with 18 defendants across its Eastern (9), Middle (5) and Western (4) districts.
Los Angeles-area cases
The total includes six lawful permanent residents in the Central District of California. Each is charged with making false statements on naturalization applications. Prosecutors allege that each of them registered to vote by claiming U.S. citizenship and voted in one or more elections, then later swore on a naturalization form that they had never claimed citizenship or registered to vote. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California also announced these cases separately.
Other cases
- New Mexico: Robert Glenn Johnson, 63, of Annapolis, Maryland, is charged with allegedly submitting a voter registration application in Bernalillo County in which he falsely claimed to be a New Mexico resident.
- North Carolina (Eastern District): Elizabeth Margaret Crudup, 52, a Kenyan national and lawful permanent resident, is alleged to have registered in 2008 and voted in nine general elections from 2008 through 2024.
DOJ figures
Attorney General Todd Blanche called the announcement “the largest surge of voter-fraud arrests since President Trump returned to office.” The department said it has charged 195 aliens in 25 states with illegal voting and registration offenses in the last nine weeks, and 239 people with voting fraud-related offenses since the administration began.
Per DOJ: a complaint, indictment or information is only an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
